Pittulongu
A long stretch of pale sand just outside Olbia, where the sea opens toward Tavolara and the islands of the Marine Protected Area in a wide and luminous landscape.
Discover Pittulongu
Pittulongu is one of the best-known beaches along the northeastern coast of Sardinia, located a short distance from the center of Olbia. It extends in a broad strip of fine, pale sand along the gulf, interrupted by small rocky sections and gentle curves that break up the shoreline.
The sea is generally calm, with mostly sandy seabeds that slope gradually, making access to the water easy and comfortable. The colors range from very light green near the shore to bright turquoise and deeper blue offshore, with open views that on clear days stretch as far as Tavolara and Molara.
Behind the beach, the landscape alternates between more natural areas and residential zones with seasonal facilities, creating a balance between convenience and coastal atmosphere. Despite its proximity to the city, Pittulongu maintains a spacious and relaxed feeling, thanks to its width and the constant presence of the open sea on the horizon.
From the water, Pittulongu appears as a long pale line framing the Gulf of Olbia. During a boat excursion, it can be an interesting stop to alternate wilder bays with broader and more open coastal views. Anchoring offshore allows you to appreciate its full extension and the contrast between luminous sand, clear water and the horizon dominated by Tavolara, in a wide and bright landscape typical of this part of Sardinia.
What to expect in this paradise
Wide sandy beaches, shallow and transparent seabeds, and open views of Tavolara: Pittulongu is one of the most accessible and panoramic stretches of coastline in the Gulf of Olbia.

Pittulongu is located just a few minutes from Olbia, along the northeastern coast of Sardinia, in a position that is extremely accessible yet already immersed in a high-value marine environment. It is one of the first true beaches you encounter when leaving the city heading north, facing an open stretch of sea with a direct view of Tavolara island.
This proximity to Olbia makes it a very popular destination, but also a strategic one from a nautical perspective. Pittulongu represents a natural transit area for those navigating towards key coastal destinations such as Golfo Aranci, Cala Moresca or the Tavolara area.
During a day at sea with Flag Sardinia, Pittulongu can easily be included as a first stop, especially for those who want to start the experience gradually, immediately enjoying clear waters and light seabeds aboard luxury RIB boats, both in bareboat rental without skipper and in charter with skipper.
How to reach Pittulongu?
Pittulongu is one of the easiest locations to reach in northern Sardinia. It is about 10 minutes from Olbia city center and the airport, connected by a direct and smooth coastal road that allows quick access to the beach.
Once there, several access points to the sea and parking areas are available, although during peak season they can become very crowded. For this reason, the most interesting way to experience Pittulongu is not by land, but from the sea.
Arriving by RIB boat completely changes the perception. You can fully appreciate the length of the beach, the color of the water and the continuity of the coastline without the limitations of land access. With Flag Sardinia’s luxury RIB boats, Pittulongu can be reached as a first stop of the day or included within a wider itinerary.
In the case of charter with skipper, it is also possible to depart from other marinas and reach the area in just a few minutes, avoiding traffic and crowds.
What is Pittulongu famous for?
Pittulongu is famous for its long stretch of fine, light-colored sand, with shallow seabeds and crystal-clear water that takes on particularly bright tones on sunny days. It is one of the best-known beaches in the Olbia area precisely because of its easy access and the quality of its sea.
A distinctive element is the open view towards Tavolara, creating a highly recognizable and scenic horizon. Unlike smaller rocky coves, Pittulongu has a wide and linear character, making it ideal for long stays in the water and for those who enjoy swimming without obstacles.
It is also one of the few beaches in the area that combines natural beauty with services. There are restaurants, beach clubs and refreshment points, making it very popular yet extremely functional.
During a tour with Flag Sardinia, Pittulongu is often chosen as an initial or final stop, thanks to its location and the possibility of enjoying a first contact with the sea aboard luxury RIB boats, both in bareboat rental and charter with skipper.

From the water, it is possible to anchor a short distance from the shore and enjoy the beach without necessarily going ashore, maintaining a more exclusive and private experience. This is one of the main advantages of visiting Pittulongu by RIB boat.
The area is also interesting for short coastal explorations. By navigating just a few minutes, you can reach other coves and less crowded spots, creating a dynamic itinerary even starting from such an accessible base.
With Flag Sardinia, Pittulongu can be included at the beginning of the day for a first swim or as the final stop before returning. Those choosing charter with skipper can alternate stops and navigation effortlessly, while those opting for bareboat rental can manage timing and movements independently.
What is the best time to visit Pittulongu?
Pittulongu is a very popular destination, so the best time to visit strongly depends on the type of experience you are looking for.
June and September are the ideal months for those seeking tranquility and optimal conditions. Temperatures are pleasant, the sea is already perfect for swimming and the level of crowding is significantly lower compared to peak season.
July and August are the busiest months. The beach becomes highly crowded and parking can be difficult to find, especially during the central hours of the day. However, from the sea it is still possible to enjoy Pittulongu in a more relaxed way.
From a nautical point of view, it is also an interesting area during windier periods, although it is always important to evaluate weather conditions. With Flag Sardinia’s luxury RIB boats, it is possible to adapt the itinerary and choose the best moments to enjoy the area, both in bareboat rental and charter with skipper.
Why visit Pittulongu during a RIB boat tour?

ECCELLENTE In base a 101 recensioni Pubblicato su Feline Heine21/06/2026Trustindex verifica che la fonte originale della recensione sia Google. One word, Amazing!!! First of all, we would like to thank Gabriele & Ludovico for the amazing communication and guidance, not only during the booking process but also during the day of rental. They were very transparent about costs, we had a great check in/check out process, and they respond very well and clear during our communication on mail. They were absolutely wonderful. We both have our nautical license so we were able to book the R6 without a skipper. This was no problem at all. We went to multiple (recommended) places in the area of Porto Rotondo and they were beautiful. Water so clear as you see on the pictures and we even saw dolphins, twice!! The service they provide is like no other and included drinks, snacks, towels, water-shoes you name it. It was an experience we will never forget! Will definitely go back here whenever we are in Sardinia.Pubblicato su Sabrina Mechta20/06/2026Trustindex verifica che la fonte originale della recensione sia Google.
