Wreck beach
A small cove of pale sand and granite rocks, made unmistakable by the remains of an old motor-sailing vessel stranded on the shore in 1955.
Discover Wreck beach
Wreck Beach, locally known as Spiaggia del Relitto, lies along the southern coast of Caprera and is a small bay with immediate charm: pale sand, clear water, and an intimate setting framed by low granite rocks. Despite its modest size, it captures the very essence of the Archipelago’s atmosphere.
On the shoreline, the remains of an old wooden hull, weathered by time and sea, add a historical touch to the landscape. The contrast between the wreck, the sand, and the color of the water creates an image that many recognize instantly, making this corner of Caprera one of the island’s most photographed spots.
Behind the beach, dense Mediterranean scrub grows fragrant and thick: junipers, strawberry trees, myrtle, and lentisk shape a green frame around the bay, enhancing its sense of intimacy. Reaching this cove by dinghy is not permitted, but it can be admired from a distance, where its uniqueness still clearly stands out.
What to expect in this paradise
A sheltered little bay, pale sand, crystal-clear water, and the outline of an old hull resting on the shore: Wreck Beach (Spiaggia del Relitto) is one of the most distinctive and recognizable landscapes of Caprera.

ECCELLENTE In base a 101 recensioni Pubblicato su Feline Heine21/06/2026Trustindex verifica che la fonte originale della recensione sia Google. One word, Amazing!!! First of all, we would like to thank Gabriele & Ludovico for the amazing communication and guidance, not only during the booking process but also during the day of rental. They were very transparent about costs, we had a great check in/check out process, and they respond very well and clear during our communication on mail. They were absolutely wonderful. We both have our nautical license so we were able to book the R6 without a skipper. This was no problem at all. We went to multiple (recommended) places in the area of Porto Rotondo and they were beautiful. Water so clear as you see on the pictures and we even saw dolphins, twice!! The service they provide is like no other and included drinks, snacks, towels, water-shoes you name it. It was an experience we will never forget! Will definitely go back here whenever we are in Sardinia.Pubblicato su Sabrina Mechta20/06/2026Trustindex verifica che la fonte originale della recensione sia Google. Fun Facts and Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Spiaggia del Relitto located?
Spiaggia del Relitto is located on the island of Caprera, in the eastern part of the La Maddalena Archipelago, in north-eastern Sardinia. It is one of the most distinctive beaches on the island, easily recognizable thanks to the presence of a shipwreck visible just a few meters from the shoreline.
The beach is set within a highly scenic natural environment, characterized by smooth granite rocks, Mediterranean vegetation and a sea that ranges in color from turquoise to deep blue.
Due to its location and the unique presence of the wreck, it is a popular destination both for swimming and for its historical and photographic interest.
How can you reach Spiaggia del Relitto?
Spiaggia del Relitto can be reached by land via the island of Caprera, starting from La Maddalena and crossing the bridge that connects the two islands. After following the main road across the island, it is possible to reach an area close to the beach and complete the final stretch on foot.
Access is relatively easy compared to other more secluded coves of Caprera, which is why the beach can become quite busy during the high season.
Alternatively, it can be reached by sea, which is the ideal solution for those who want to avoid crowds and enjoy the experience in a more exclusive way.
With Flag Sardinia, you can reach the beach directly aboard luxury RIB boats: if you have a boat license, you can choose bareboat rental and move independently, or opt for a skippered experience for a more relaxed and customized day.
What is Spiaggia del Relitto famous for?
Spiaggia del Relitto is famous for the presence of an abandoned boat wreck located just a few meters from the shore, which over time has become a defining symbol of the beach.
This wreck, now fully integrated into the landscape, creates a striking contrast with the crystal-clear water and the light seabed, making the beach highly scenic and instantly recognizable.
In addition to the wreck, the beach is appreciated for the quality of its waters, with excellent visibility and gently sloping seabeds, ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
The combination of historical element, natural beauty and easy access makes it one of the most visited beaches on Caprera.
What can you do at Spiaggia del Relitto?
Spiaggia del Relitto offers a variety of activities, suitable both for those looking to relax and for those who want to explore the sea.
You can swim in calm, crystal-clear waters, which are also ideal for snorkeling, especially around the wreck where marine life can often be observed.
The beach is also perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the surrounding landscape, with wide sandy areas and panoramic views over the archipelago.
Those arriving by sea can combine a stop at Spiaggia del Relitto with visits to other nearby coves, creating a more dynamic and varied experience throughout the day.
When is the best time to visit Spiaggia del Relitto?
The best time to visit Spiaggia del Relitto is from May to October. During the summer months, the sea is generally calm and conditions are ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
June and September are particularly recommended for those who want to enjoy the beach in a more relaxed atmosphere, avoiding the peak crowds of July and August.
In spring and early autumn, the beach still offers a beautiful experience, thanks to mild temperatures and lighting conditions that enhance the colors of the sea and landscape.
Why visit Spiaggia del Relitto during a boat tour?
Visiting Spiaggia del Relitto during a boat tour allows you to experience it in a more exclusive way, avoiding land access during peak hours.

A boat tour also allows you to include Spiaggia del Relitto within a broader itinerary across the La Maddalena Archipelago, combining it with other destinations such as Cala Coticcio, Cala Napoletana and the islands of Budelli and Spargi.
With Flag Sardinia, the experience is fully customizable: you can choose bareboat rental for independent navigation or opt for a skippered experience for a completely stress-free day, with routes tailored to sea conditions and guest preferences.
