Wreck beach

A small cove of pale sand and granite rocks, made unmistakable by the remains of an old motor-sailing vessel stranded on the shore in 1955.

Discover Wreck beach

Wreck Beach, locally known as Spiaggia del Relitto, lies along the southern coast of Caprera and is a small bay with immediate charm: pale sand, clear water, and an intimate setting framed by low granite rocks. Despite its modest size, it captures the very essence of the Archipelago’s atmosphere.

On the shoreline, the remains of an old wooden hull, weathered by time and sea, add a historical touch to the landscape. The contrast between the wreck, the sand, and the color of the water creates an image that many recognize instantly, making this corner of Caprera one of the island’s most photographed spots.

Behind the beach, dense Mediterranean scrub grows fragrant and thick: junipers, strawberry trees, myrtle, and lentisk shape a green frame around the bay, enhancing its sense of intimacy. Reaching this cove by dinghy is not permitted, but it can be admired from a distance, where its uniqueness still clearly stands out.

What to expect in this paradise

A sheltered little bay, pale sand, crystal-clear water, and the outline of an old hull resting on the shore: Wreck Beach (Spiaggia del Relitto) is one of the most distinctive and recognizable landscapes of Caprera.
