Santo Stefano Island

An island of wind-sculpted granite, dotted with Mediterranean scrub and overlooking an intensely emerald sea.

Discover Santo Stefano Island

The island of Santo Stefano is an imposing granite mass rising from the sea, with irregular coastlines, hidden coves and cliffs that in some stretches drop sheer into the water. The rock, carved by the wind, alternates smooth, polished surfaces with deep fissures, creating a dynamic landscape that is never monotonous.

On the higher parts, Mediterranean scrub weaves its way between the granite boulders, with myrtle, mastic and strawberry trees dotting the rock with patches of green. Here and there you can also glimpse traces of the island’s military past: forts, buildings and structures that tell an important chapter of its recent history.

The island of Santo Stefano is a place with a strong soul, where nature and human traces coexist in balance, giving life to an essential, highly recognisable landscape. Skirting the island by RIB reveals its double identity: gliding over the water, you can closely observe the contrasts between beaches, crystal-clear coves, resorts and military constructions hidden in the rock, and the explosion of wild nature surrounding them – a fascinating visual tour, very different from the usual seaside routes.

What to expect in this paradise

Wind-sculpted granite, Mediterranean scrub threading its way between the rocks and glimpses of emerald-green sea all around: the island of Santo Stefano has a strong character, where nature and history meet.
