Rondinara

Rondinara lies along the southern coast of Corsica, between Bonifacio and Porto-Vecchio, and is considered one of the most scenic bays on the island. Its almost perfectly circular shape makes it instantly recognizable both from above and from the sea: a wide crescent of pale sand enclosed between two headlands that protect the inlet from wind and waves.

The seabed slopes gently and remains shallow for several meters from the shore, creating an extremely bright and transparent stretch of water. Shades range from very light green to intense turquoise, gradually deepening into a richer blue toward the center of the bay. On calm days, the surface appears almost motionless, reflecting the outline of the surrounding hills and enhancing the feeling of balance and shelter that defines this place.

Behind the beach, soft dunes and dense Mediterranean scrub frame the shoreline without altering its natural character. Junipers, mastic trees and low vegetation surround the sandy arc, while the two rocky headlands on either side rise slightly higher, enclosing the bay in a natural embrace and making it one of the most protected stretches of this part of Corsica.

Reaching Rondinara by dinghy means slowly entering one of the most harmonious natural basins in the western Mediterranean. Approaching from the sea, the perfect geometry of the bay becomes evident, as does the clarity of the water, which shifts in color as you move inward. Choosing an anchoring point requires attention to permitted zones and weather conditions, yet it offers a privileged perspective on one of southern Corsica’s most celebrated beaches.
