Porto Mannu

Porto Mannu is one of the widest and brightest bays along the coast of Palau, located just north of the town center, in the direction of Isola dei Gabbiani and Porto Pollo. The beach forms a broad sandy arc, bordered by low granite formations that frame the bay and offer natural protection from prevailing winds coming from certain directions.

The sand is pale and fine, with seabeds that gently slope toward deeper waters, creating an extensive shallow area particularly suitable for relaxing stops and long swims. The sea displays shades ranging from emerald green to bright turquoise, especially on clear days when sunlight reflects on the sandy bottom and enhances the water’s transparency.

From the sea, Porto Mannu appears as a spacious and orderly inlet, with the hills of Gallura rising behind it and an open horizon stretching toward the La Maddalena Archipelago. Its intermediate position between Palau and Porto Pollo makes it a natural stop along many boat itineraries, whether sailing along the northwestern coastline or heading toward the islands.

Reaching Porto Mannu by boat allows you to fully appreciate its size and layout: you can remain offshore in deeper waters or approach the sandy area within the permitted zones for a swim in a stretch of sea that is often sheltered.
