I Due Mari Beach

Spiaggia I Due Mari, also known as Cala Portese (sometimes referred to as Two Seas Beach), is one of the most unique stretches of coastline in Caprera. A narrow strip of pale sand connects two opposite sides of the island, separating two bays with distinct characteristics: on one side a more sheltered and protected inlet, on the other a more open front where the sea shifts in color and depth within just a few meters.

This unusual layout makes the beach extremely versatile. Depending on wind and weather conditions, one side may appear flat and crystal-clear, while the other shows gentle ripples and deeper shades of blue. The predominantly sandy seabeds create colors ranging from very pale green to bright turquoise, ideal for long swims and relaxed snorkeling.

Behind the beach, small dunes and Mediterranean scrub frame the isthmus, offering — especially during quieter hours — a pleasant sense of openness and tranquility. Reaching I Due Mari by dinghy is a real privilege: it is possible to approach the shore via the designated landing corridor or remain offshore, choosing the more sheltered side to enjoy calm and transparent waters.
